How we create our fragrance blends

We begin with a memory of a particular time and place in France that we want the fragrance to recreate for us. After deciding on the French feeling we want to focus on, we carefully choose a selection of essential oils that will support this based on the benefits we wish to create for our customers. You can read more about our fragrance journey in our journal post here.

How is your sense of smell?

Scientists may argue that our sense of smell is the least important, but I wonder what someone who has lost their sense of smell would say to that?

During this pandemic, many people have found that losing their sense of smell has been incredibly difficult to come to terms with. After all, without our sense of smell, we can't taste effectively either, as smell and taste are intertwined in our brain. Whilst the tongue can detect basic tastes, our nose detects the flavour.

Losing your sense of smell means our memories will not be stimulated as much either because our sense of smell is also closely linked with memory.

Those of us with our complete sense of smell intact are often transported to a time in the past when we smell a particular fragrance.

In my case, the scent of ELISABETHAN ROSE by @penhaligons_london instantly transports me back to my wedding day. This was the fragrance I chose to use for the day, firstly by bathing in the body wash and layering up with the body lotion and a light spritz of the perfume for the day ahead. As these were gifted to me by a very dear friend, the smell also reminds me of her 😊

Couldn't agree more! 🕯️

Here’s to a great week ahead and always looking at the brighter side of life, with Maison Vivi✨

✨What makes a fragrance sensual?✨

To create a rich, romantic fragrance, you need to use a complex blend of essential oils, the overall effect being to invite seduction.

You would be remiss to try and create such a fragrance without using Ylang Ylang. This exotic, intense, rich fragrance note is recognised as one of the more 'aphrodisiac' sensual notes in every perfumer's collection.

Used by the creator of Chanel No 5, who famously said he couldn't have created the fragrance without it, and I think we'd all agree that this perfume is incredibly seductive.

It will probably come as no surprise then that we used Ylang Ylang (along with a complex blend of other complementary essential oils) when creating our top sensually-scented candle, Parisian Nights. Have you tried it yet?✨

✨ Breathing in, I calm my mind. Breathing out, I smile ✨

This is my favourite mantra when I am doing some meditation. It's incredible how quickly it can change my mindset. If I use it at the beginning of the day, it sets me up for the day or if I've had a particularly stressful day, I find it helps me relax at the end of the day.

It doesn't matter what mantra I use; one constant during my meditation is my burning of one of our scented wax melts. The aroma is always guaranteed to help support me during my session.

What about you, have you tried them yet? Which is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below or click on the link in our bio to find out more ✨

Nothing is as quite so invigorating as the fresh air experienced during a walk along the French Riviera. 🏖️

Unfortunately, not many of us have that luxury to get out of a midday (or morning) slump… until now.

By carefully blending essential oils, we have created a candle that possesses the uplifting charm of the breeze native to the Riviera.

Did you know that regularly lighting a candle can have a positive impact on your mental health? 🕯️

It has been well documented that essential oils can help to stimulate our limbic system, the part of the brain that is home to memory and emotions. All Maison Vivi candles have been carefully created with our unique blends of essential oils to take you on a journey with us while helping support your wellbeing; whether you need to be uplifted or to relax, we have you covered.

Practising yoga, meditation or even writing in your journal whilst your Maison Vivi candle is burning are some examples of self-care rituals you can try.

Even if you choose an unscented candle, the simple act of relaxing and watching the flickering flame of a candle can help to soothe your soul and reduce stress.

Do you have any personal rituals centred around candles? Let us know below; we always love to hear from you or click on the link in our bio to discover our candles ✨
