As a responsible company, we are committed to ensuring that our products are the safest on the market. As part of that commitment, we are members of the British Candlemakers Federation (BCF). Being part of BCF ensures that we keep updated with all the relevant legislation surrounding fragranced products.
Labelling
In 2009, the EU introduced legislation called Classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP). The legislation covers all fragranced products, including candles, reed diffusers and wax melts. All retailed substances and mixtures (including essential oil blends) fall under the legislation requiring companies to ensure appropriate labelling for products.
We hold safety data sheets (SDS) for each of our essential oil blends, and these are available on request from any professional in the event of any adverse reaction. Should the SDS be required, the relevant professional can find contact details for our company on the CLP label.
Transparency
One of the essential elements of our company is the desire for transparency with our customers. The potential allergens contained in each blend are just one example of the importance of complete transparency.
We create all our unique fragrances in-house (instead of buying in ready-made mixes); thus, we need to ensure our blends’ safety. We, therefore, employ specialists in the field to create the relevant CLPs for each unique blend. These professionally formulated CLPs ensure that all our fragrances are safe for use in our products.
You can find CLP information under each product page’s safety and allergen heading. This information helps customers to make an informed decision before making a purchase. Once released for sale, each product also has its own unique CLP label attached.
Testing
After extensive testing has been completed on each product, they are released for sale.
For example, our testing process for candles essentially checks for burning characteristics. We check to see that the candle does not produce any soot or a large flame and burns cleanly. When the candle has passed all safety checks, we will mark it as ready for full-scale production.
